Structural Design

The entire process of structural planning and design requires not only creative/conceptual thinking but also sound knowledge of practical aspects. Structural design should satisfy both functional and aesthetic requirements of the building. To kickstart the process, basic purpose for the structure has to be clearly defined, taking into account the proper arrangements of rooms, halls, lightings, ventilation etc. Once the form of the structure is defined, structural planning works will be carried out, which involves determining position of columns and beams, spanning of slabs and layout of stairs.
To ensure safety and durability, the selection of footing will be another aspect to look at given that the structure is dependent on the supporting soil and the expected load.
